First Shoot with CalGunners

I was lucky enough to join in on the fun with CalGunners last night at the range.  :)  I had an amazing time with everyone.

Not sure what handgun I was using here.  But my grouping wasn't bad!

Sig Sauer Mosquito here.  :D  This little gun was nifty!  Tried to shoot at the dart board to win a prize, but that didn't happen.  hahaha  My shots just weren't aligned.  But the grouping here was pretty good too, so I'm a happy camper.  :)

Overall, I had an amazing time and I look forward to next month's shoot!  :D

New Custom Notebook Cover

I picked up my new notebook cover yesterday at Steel Flame's Spring Fling.  I could have gotten this long ago, but I wanted to meet the maker and thank him in person.  :)  This was made by DHLW.  The cover is adorned with one of Steel Flame's Bushido/Snake tag, gifted to me by my friend A.

Crazy clean work.  All of the stitching is phenomenal and super even.  The leather used is just beautiful.  :)  The cover was custom made to fit mini composition notebooks.

Did I REALLY just get a custom leather notebook cover for a $0.33 notebook?  Yes.  Indeed I did.  That's just how I do.  :)

Handmade, adorned with a Steel Flame gift, uses my favorite refills... custom.  :)  It just doesn't get any better than this.  :D

Steel Flame: So Much Win

Today was Steel Flame's Spring Fling.  It was simply amazing.  :)  I had a great time meeting everyone and putting names to faces.  It's wonderful to be able to have a visual and tangible factor added on to those you meet forums.

The day from start to finish is something I'll not likely ever forget.

  1. I didn't get lost.  Usually I get turned around when I'm driving to new places by myself.
  2. I was greeted by USN members (whom I've never met in RL before) as though they'd known me forever.  :)
  3. Meeting cornholio was awesome.  :)
  4. It was a pretty cool feeling to have people come up and say, "Oh, so YOU'RE mooshi!"  :)
  5. I got gift bombed like no other.  Simply amazing.  :)  Words cannot describe.
  6. When I was leaving the "afterparty" to head home, the entire room yelled out, "Bye, [mooshi]!"  haha It was pretty awesome.
Thank you SF and USN for making this happen.  :D  A great experience and I'm glad I was there to enjoy it.  Until next time!

Wedding Setup Carry

Pretty happy with my carry today.

I like knowing that the gear I own is put to good use, even when it's only once in a while, tailored toward specific tasks.

The tool pouch there is a cheap one from Harbor Freight.  I took it to help with the Hurricane Sandy Relief last December and it was great for that.  In it today I just have my Olight, Stanley knife, retractable Sharpie, and Leatherman Wingman.  Hanging off the carabiner is a roll of duct tape and about 7 meters of paracord.

I left out a lot of my normal carry on this simply because I'm at work and constantly moving.  I didn't need anything extra to pull me down and I definitely didn't want to accidentally leave something behind that is otherwise sentimental or of great monetary value - so no challenge coins or jewelry (other than the watch and bracelet).  Setting up for a wedding is a crazy amount of work and I'd rather leave anything extra behind and not have to worry about it.

17 May 2013: No Puzzles, Just Criminal Law - It's Finals Week!

Staying in this weekend.  Missing would be my mini comp book.  But that's okay; it's sitting at my desk.  Why the OC spray?  'Cause we had a couple of disturbances this week wherein some people jumped our fence.

KillboX has Landed :)

After just over a month of waiting, my KillboX finally came in.  :D  The following day, my custom pendant/tag came in from my buddy Maxie.

I'm super excited about the KillboX.  I'd always wanted to wear one to see how it felt.  They just look too cool.  :)  I'll  admit that this will likely just be kept to tide me over until I talk to Len at Spring Fling next weekend.  Or given to my brother since he likes it.  I went in on this purchase with a buddy who wanted only the chain.

Steel Flame is love, and I wanna get one that holds special meaning to me.  This one was bought on a whim and the effort put in to even get it in my hands was insane.

Spring Fling couldn't come quicker enough.  :)  I'm too excited to meet the SF crew and hang out with the USN family.  :D

Cheers!

First Leather Bracelet :)

:D  It's been a long week.  And to unwind, I decided to have some DIY fun since I was in an awfully crafty mood.  Today's project was to make a stamped leather bracelet.

It's a simple strip of veggie tanned leather with snaps.  And since I can't make rounded corners to save my life, they just get cut corners.  haha!

The stamps were a cheaper set from Michaels that cost about $8.00 after using a 40% off coupon.  All of the other tools (Stanley knife, mallet, cutting board, glass, straightedge) were readily available at home.  So the only real cost were the materials for the bracelet and the stamps.

The process is super simple - just dampen your leather with some clean water, line up your stamps, and hammer away!  I just gave it a good 3 strikes (not too hard) and I was good to go.  They're quick and easy to make.  :)  It wasn't until I was making Brother's that I figured out a good method to get the letters straight.  My "mooshi" one is only slightly off, but the irregularities is what makes them unique, I suppose.  :)  I'm still very happy with how it turned out.  :D

My next project will involve stamped metal plates and rivets, added to these leather bracelets.  :D

I must say, the Sitka is just about the perfect bag to take to/from work for me.  :)  Fits just enough of what I need, comfortable, and a good size.

04 May 2013: First GTG!

Went to my first GTG with the guys and gals of USN this morning at Little Bear.  :D  It was flippin' awesome!  I had an amazing time meeting everyone.  I did spend a lot of my time with the ladies, so next time I'll need to make an effort to speak to the guys and handle the knives.  Teehees!  :)

My PocketDump before I left the house.  :)

All dem cool people.  :D

hehe!  Blurple stands out so well in the crowd.  This was only a fraction of the knives people brought.

MmmMmm... :D  Tuna melt for me!

All of the goodies people brought for the raffle/giveaway.  :D  There was a Bushido coin added at the last minute that I didn't get in the picture.

This is my loot/take from the GTG.  Because we had more items than people, my name got drawn twice.  Got badged today, too!  Whoohoo!

02 May 2013: Pew Pew Pew! + Kimber Pepperblaster II

Pew pew!  :)  Went to the range today.  Didn't bring too much with me.

Also got the Kimber Pepperblaster II in the mail along with the custom IWB holster that a friend made for me.  Since I don't have a CCW and only shoot at the range (for the time being - CA is crazy)... I carry pepper spray.  I'd gotten a Kimber for a friend not too long ago.  Another friend got burgled about a week after so I gave her mine.  Then I picked this one up and shipped it directly to another friend who works with kydex to help me make a holster for it.

Girl pockets suck.  But most of the holsters made for the Pepperblaster are pocket holsters and it's way too hot to be wearing a coat otherwise.  So by all means, I had my friend make up an adjustable IWB holster knowing that I like to carry at 4 o' clock.  I think it's great!  The picture above shows it adjusted to about mid-height.  :)  It's surprisingly comfy, especially for something that's being worn with skinny jeans!
