30 January 2014: Just at Home :)

Dice, Dice, Baby! (Chessex Pound-O-Dice)

xD  I couldn't help myself with the title.

It's been a while, eh?

School's back in session and there's just not much time to post.  I'll try to make some time though - I miss posting here.  :)

So you know, I've been playing a lot of Magic: the Gathering.  Well, I needed some dice.  But each set would have cost me on average, $10.00, depending on the colors/patterns.  In lieu of that, I decided that I didn't care for matching sets and bought myself a Pound-O-Dice from Chessex instead.

Chessex states that the Pound-O-Dice includes:
An assortment in various shapes and colors in varied quality.  Included is one complete 7-die polyhedral set of dice in color available only in the Pound-O-Dice.  Collect them all!
Various reviews online lead me to believe that it was well worth the cost (since you get somewhere around 100 dice for the price).  For just shy of $20.00 shipped, I got the following:
  • (27) D20
  • (10) D12
  • (19) D10
  • (10) D8
  • (6) D4
  • (19) standard sized D6; 12 of which were with numbers and 7 with pips
  • (2) percentile
  • (1) complete set of polyhedral dice in ivory and gold lettering
A total of... 93 dice plus a 7-die set - exactly 100!

These ARE factory seconds, something to keep in mind.  Since I'm using them as counters in M:tG, I didn't care for the probability factor.  As seconds, I had bought this with the expectation of getting some malformed/misprinted stuff... but I did not.  There's one that had a bit of a chipped edge, the paint job was good on all of them except for 1 that had a little bit too much ink on the number 5, and one that had a hairline streak of ink down the middle.  But that's it.  Everything else was spot on - the stamping was all good; no mistamps or double stamps or anything of that nature.

I was a LITTLE disappointed that I didn't get any mini D6 (12 and/or 8mm), only because I was really after just a few D20, some D10, and the smaller D6 for counters.  But overall, I think I got a pretty good mix, especially since most people don't even care for the D6!

I know of a few people at the comic book store who could use the D20, so I'm hoping that they'll be willing to trade for a few of the mini D6.

All in all, great buy.  :)  I would definitely buy again.  :D  I don't think I would ever need to, but I kind of want to!
