  1. How do you like that Dingoo? I was looking at getting one for GB/GBC/GBA emulation, but I worry about the build quality of it.

    1. I love it. It's definitely real light, but it's not the type of build/material that you would associate with "cheap" stuff. It's just about as heavy as a GB SP with the finish of a DS.

All of my save states are perfect, as are the regular saves within the games.

I do have a used one - so for these to last since like 2008/2009 when they first came out and still be one of the bigger names in emulations to this day is something that made the purchase easy.

The form factor's great - I played Zelda for a good hour or so when I was sick yesterday and time flew... didn't get any hand cramps or anything.

Used, you're looking at about $50 - $60 w/ all the cables. New can range anywhere from $80 - $145. haha I should have held out for a white one but didn't want to miss out and got the black one on a whim 'cause it was such a great price.

Personally, I chose the Dingoo because I have a soft spot for them, having followed the development when they first were creating them back in high school.

You can now get stuff with better/faster hardware (Dingoo A380 has the same software but better hardware than the A320) such as the JDX and Yinlips lines for about the same price if not cheaper. I went with something simple and reminiscent because I knew I wouldn't be doing anything more than playing my old SNES/NES (maybe some GBA games, though my SP is still working).

      Cheers!

    2. Thanks for the detailed response. I was mainly looking for a handheld for the GB and SNES family of games. I have emulators on my pc, but sometimes it's nice to be able to relax on the couch and play. The GP2X sounded good, but it also seems more complicated, and for the price, you might as well get a PS Vita or 3DS.

    3. You're most welcome. :)

Gotcha. I remember back when I was following the emulation scene, it was between the Dingoo and GP2X [Wiz]. I think the newest GP2X version is the Canoo. I'm not sure how far they've gone since though - GCW Zero I think is one of the newer systems, as are the Android ones (Yinlips and JDX, as mentioned previously).

But yeah. For just older games, the Dingoo is perfectly fine. :) For better overall hardware, I'd probably look into the newer stuff.
